Ms. :McPherson wants to make sure GLCPS is offering a comprehensive school counseling program, supporting all students in their academic readiness and future planning.GLCPS has established it's own College & Career Center in recent years.  Located near the school's entrance, the College & Career Center welcomes all students, families, staff, and college representatives and community partners throughout the year to support students' future planning.  Ms. McPherson works with students in all grades, 5-12.  Middle school students are challenged to explore their career interests.  8th grade students present their final Presentation of Learning by sharing their individual 10 Year high school/college/career plan.  High school students carefully plan their academic pathway and work with the Naviance program in monthly, grade-level seminars.  College advising ramps up in the 11th and 12th grade for students and families, with significant support in the college application process and financial aide advising.  Students have the opportunity to participate in the 11th and 12th grade Community mentoring program, where community mentors individually support college-bound seniors in their transition to college and through their first year's experience with weekly communication.  The Alumni Association is growing and looks forward to entertaining winter and summer reunion opportunities.
